Dozens of qualified former OFA staffers and hundreds of trained volunteers currently reside in the state and should have been considered for the positions of State Political Director and State Field Director. Instead, these positions were given to out of state residents with no ties to or knowledge of South Carolina. The staff and volunteers were highly successful in 2008 and many of them travelled the country, winning primary afer primary for President Obama. Without a doubt, they should have been given first consideration for any state leadership position.
While we will continue to support President Obama and the South Carolina Democratic Party, until OFA acknowledges that we have qualified people within our state to manage our political organization, and hires accordingly, we will not volunteer or contribute to Organizing for America/Obama for America.
