Good evening,

Us students, at The University of Tampa are writing this in pursuit of changing the grading scale of our Organic Chemistry final exam. With coursework abruptly changing to online instruction due to the COVID-19 outbreak, many students find themselves struggling especially when professors hold them to the same standards expected when in class teaching was held. However, the quality of teaching is not the same. Usually, every organic class holds the final to be an in class standardized 70 question multiple choice exam, "the ACS", that is curved and review sources are available. Now, since instruction has moved to online platforms, this has changed. Students feel the department is making it extremely hard for them to do well. We understand a final must be put in place to test our overall knowledge of the subject but not curving the exam nor providing guidance on how to study is putting us students at risk for failure. Teachers should be trying to limit the amount of stress of students during this pandemic however, they're making it several times harder especially for those trying to graduate. Not curving an exam with over 2 semesters of content when some students don't even have the materials like notes, textbooks, etc on hand is unfair and shouldn't be overlooked. Please sign this petition to help us get the grading scale that is deserved.
