I was a bit confused when the teachers asked us during Year 10 assembly on Friday to remove our jackets while in the auditorium, even though it was freezing cold. I believe jackets like Softshells should be allowed to be kept on, as these keep you warm. I understand that windbreakers are not necessary in the auditorium but I think if a student has a Soft-shell they should definitely be allowed to wear it to protect themselves against the cold temperatures. Keeping students healthy should be one of the schools top priorities. By not allowing Softshells on cold days, they are weakening the students immune system making them more susceptible to infectious diseases (like influenza) and in a room full of 300 students, this is not a good idea. When students are cold, it also distracts them from the important messages of the senior management, etc. So we urge the school to allow freezing students at the school to wear Soft-shell jackets in the pursuit of a happier, warmer and healthier environment.
