Ian Curtis started this petition to Oregon State Senate and

For the third year in a row, The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs have been in a water crisis. On May 31st, 2019, a break in the main line of the tribe’s water source near Shitike Creek put the area’s drinking water source in jeopardy. Soon after the break was repaired, a second water line broke, causing further outages. These recent developments are a serious cause for alarm and have resulted in months-long boil water notices, malfunctioning fire hydrants, and have left many community members without any water at all.

Now, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and with the wildfire season approaching, the risk is even higher. Every day this crisis continues, tribal members are threatened by an impending water shortage to combat fires and deal with sanitation issues that must be addressed to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

I’m asking Oregon State and Federal leaders to step up and assist the Warm Springs Reservation to get clean, usable drinking water.

As a previous council member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, Carina Miller knows firsthand the issues that Oregon’s Indigenous peoples face. I support Carina’s campaign as she seeks to be the first Oregon Tribal Member State Senator in Oregon history and help fix her community’s access to water and stand with all rural Oregonians and working families. I believe Carina has the professional and personal experiences to be a great candidate for all rural Oregonians.
