Christina Renz started this petition to Oregon Ohio residents and

Oregon City representatives held a meeting on May 10, 2021 at City Hall with Mayor Michael J. Seferian and City Administrator Michael Beazley presenting an ordinance regarding the purchase of land in East Oregon for the purpose of building an Industrial Zone. The Ordinance 060-2021 grants an undisclosed amount of taxpayer funds for acquiring land for the purpose of Industrial Development. It authorizes the mayor and finance director to enter into an agreement with the Oregon Development Foundation to assist the Foundation in acquiring land for commercial or industrial development and declaring an emergency.

Mr. Seaman and Mr. Zale moved and seconded motion for passage of Ordinance 060-2021.

We, the undersigned, feel this is a misappropriation of tax dollars as only those who own farmland were directly involved and this involved covert offers to buy their land with Oregon tax dollars. There is no one representing property owners in and around the proposed development. We also have other valid concerns that must be recognized by the City of Oregon and the elected council. These include:

1. Taxation without representation

2. Misappropriation of tax dollars to hold property for commercial purchases

3. Impact on Wetlands Corridor from Pearson Park to Ottawa National Wildlife Park

4. Negative impact on migratory birds

5. Negative impact on Lake Erie Watershed

6. Decreased homeowner property values

7. Increased road traffic

8. Increased train traffic and blocked train crossings
