Since March 16th, 2020 Oregon Small Businesses have been under varying restrictions for operating their business due to the Covid-19 Health Crisis with many businesses being completely shuttered. Without any means to provide their products and services, Oregon's small businesses are not earning income yet many landlord's of commercial retail locations are still demanding full rent payments. Without financial support from our government systems, many small businesses are having to face the potential of being evicted, paying rent to a commercial landlord over paying themselves or their employees, or even facing closing their business permanently. Without support from higher levels of government, business are left out on their own without any guidelines or recommendations on how to survive economically. As United Relief, representing commercial landlords petitions the government for support to protect them from creditors and banks, small businesses seek equal relief from those same landlords to preserve their businesses and community livelihoods.

Oregon small business owners and tenants are asking for the Oregon State Government and Kate Brown as Governor, as well as local city officials and mayors, for the following:

1) An extension on the moratorium for evictions for commercial retail locations for the entire duration of the Covid-19 Health Crisis and it's economic recession.

2) Protection from legal reprisal and lawsuits for any tenant impacted by the Covid-19 Health Crisis that needs to either terminate a lease and close their business and will not be held responsible or liable for the remainder of their lease.

3) Standardized terms for renegotiation of all commercial leases for business who are financially impacted by the Covid-19 Health Crisis. These terms need to include protection from ballooning payments or excessive deferment plans that exceed the capacity and ability for a business to remain viable and operating in the current economy and business restrictions for health and safety.
