Sign this petition to urge the Oracle shareholders to vote YES on resolution #7 demanding that the company do a payroll audit for gender equality.
On November 15th, the board of Oracle Inc will vote on a resolution brought to them by shareholders requesting the company do an internal payroll audit to check for gaps in gender pay among its employees.
The shareholder resolution states that, among other things:
- "Women comprise of 29% of Oracle's employees, but only 23% of its leadership positions."
- "Research also shows that greater gender diversity brings increased innovation, better problem solving, stimulated group performance and enhanced company reputation."
- "Technology peers Apple, Microsoft, and eBay, among others, have publicly committed to pay equity and published the results of gender pay assessments."
Progress right? Think again. The Oracle board released a statement that they will be unanimously voting NO against the resolution.
According to Oracle: "We make every effort to attract, invest and develop the talents of employees who reflect the diversity of our customers and the communities in which we do business".
Although we applaud Oracle for these efforts, we don’t think that conducting an internal audit is mutually exclusive. Other companies such as Apple, Amazon, eBay, Intel, and Expedia have all done similar audits at the request of their shareholders.
So why is the board ignoring their shareholders and peers?
