Lake Anna Civic Association started this petition to Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors

Opposition to the proposed Four Seasons RV Park on Lake Anna in Spotsylvania County (SUP21-0005)

  1. Route 522 traffic. A real safety issue as noted by the Orange County Planning Commission who unanimously turned down the request from the developer
  2. Added pressure on the lake regarding HABs. This includes additional boat traffic, boating at shallow depths, additional sewerage required, rainwater runoff and 300 Recreational Vehicles.
  3. Incongruous with the existing and planned use. See Spotsylvania current and future planning maps.
  4. Not in keeping with current zoning (low density housing and agricultural)
  5. It is not appropriate to put multimillion dollar business in the middle of agricultural and low-density housing. This sets a precedent that county citizens cannot depend upon the county to uphold their plans.
  6. Added pressure on limited and sensitive groundwater aquifers currently servicing residents.
  7. No control over what harmful chemicals are dumped from RVs into extremely sensitive and maintenance intensive privately run commercial septic systems.
  8. Devaluation of adjacent properties that are highly desirable because of the rural setting and never contemplated a high-density short term rental development.
  9. Sets a precedent that allows the remaining 1700 acres of farmland located on the shores of Lake Anna in Spotsylvania to be approved for similar developments
  10. Increased boat traffic what will be forced to access main channels through the most narrow and congested portion of the lake.
  11. Introduction of additional unlicensed rental boat operators unfamiliar with boating rules, shallow depths, narrow channels and underwater obstructions.
  12. Additional pressure on local EMS services that are already stretched thin and must traverse far distance on back roads to access western portion of Spotsylvania County.
  13. No concessions offered by developer to improve lake water quality, conserve rural farmlands, support local EMS, promote boater safety, provide high-speed fiber access to area, nothing to ensure that dredging will not be necessary and nothing to guarantee that additional boat slips won't be added in the future.
