On January 7th, 2022 the Salt Lake City Council voted to put in place a county-wide mask order and we, citizens of Salt Lake County demand the order be reversed immediately.

The government is overstepping it's bounds by it's attempt to create mandates around the covid-19 pandemic. The government has had sufficient time exercising emergency power and it has become clear that the efforts made have been ineffective as cases continue to grow, even in heavily masked regions.

If a person chooses to wear a mask or not wear a mask, that is out of government reach and needs to remain a personal decision. Personal choice when it pertains to a citizens unalienable right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness must always remain in the hands of the citizens and not the government. If we don't defend our right to personal choice now, the government will continue it's overreach.
