Why this petition matters

The Reams Road corridor is being developed rapidly and this rapid development will have a significant impact on the surrounding communities.

One of the projects, the Widening of Reams Road from Summerlake Park Blvd. through Floridian Place, will negatively impact home values, quality of life, increase road noise levels, increase air pollution and introduce light pollution to the area from overhead lights.  It will negatively impact the area’s wildlife and conservation areas along the corridor. This initiative will not reduce overall traffic backups along Reams Road. In fact, widening Reams Road will increase the number of vehicles using the corridor as a go around for 535.

The current backup of traffic on Reams Road can be addressed by widening the intersection at Summerport Blvd and expanding the turning lanes to accommodate additional vehicles. The current turning lanes can only accommodate 4 to 5 vehicles backing up traffic wanting to continue northbound on Reams.

We, the undersigned residents of the following communities and property owners with homes located along Reams Rd, do hereby stand in opposition to the widening of Reams Road from two lanes to four lanes with a twenty-one-foot center island. We hereby request the County Commissioners review alternatives that will have a lesser impact on the communities along the Reams Road corridor and surrounding conservation areas.
