Oppose the proposal to double St. Helier Yacht Club's joining fee
Why this petition matters
For St. Helier Yacht Club members only: The Executive Committee of St. Helier Yacht Club is proposing at the AGM on 20th April to double the new member joining fee from £25 to £50 with immediate effect. When the Club lost a large number of members due to a direct debit issue at the start of 2013 it was decided to go on a recruitment drive. This included halving the joining fee, freezing the membership fees for 2014 and actively promoting membership of the Club. The previous fee of £50 far exceeded the actual cost of processing a new member. Another Yacht Club has removed its joining fee altogether and has found that this measure, combined with small increases in annual fees, has increased their membership and net revenues significantly. This should be entirely achievable at St. Helier Yacht Club with the increased interest in water-based activities that we have seen over the Covid period. By signing this petition, you will be expressing your wish for the Club not to change the joining fee from the current amount of £25. Please fill in your membership number in brackets after your surname.
