I, resident of Port Moody, petition Port Moody City Council to reject the application for a Land Use Contract Amendment for Parcel D in Suter Brook village (“The Grande”) submitted by ONNI, which proposes the increase in the number of new units from 290 to 483. I also petition Port Moody City Council to amend the Open Community Plan for Port Moody, so to ensure that it incorporates adequate phasing and sets clear limits for growth. I believe that growth targets should be set only after detailed planning has been defined for the development of additional transportation infrastructure, expanded community facilities (hospital, schools, recreation centre, library, seniors centre, easily accessible park space), employment space, and to maintain or increase the green space per capita. These essential components will have to be commensurate with the level of projected growth, to ensure that the small-town charm and quality of life of Port Moody, which we all cherish, is preserved.
