Been Missing Driving Out to the Beaches at Māhāʻulepū on the Island of Kaua'i, Hawai'i?

Kupuna, local families, fishers and the community at large -- have been prevented from accessing the coast since December 2019.

For 34 months, almost 3 years, and counting, we have been patiently waiting for the “temporary” closure to end.

There is no rationale for not restarting the system of opening the gates along the coastal haul cane road from 7 am to sunset as had been the
case for decades, or those on the historic and traditional Mill Road access between Kōloa and the Māhāʻulepū coast.
