To this day, almost 3 years since the start of COVID-19, a born Canadian citizen cannot easily cross the border into Canada unvaccinated. They are forced to Quarantine in the most extensive hotels even with a negative Covid test or proof of antibodies from already having had the virus. This is robbery and prevents many from going home because they cannot afford the hotels. The Arrive Canada website offers a "Compassionate Exemption" form for people with family hardships however, I have yet to see anyone in my family be accepted. My Grandfather is very ill at home and I cannot go see him. I have a job and responsibilities and I cannot spend 2 weeks alone doing nothing in a hotel before even getting one day to see him. On top of that, even if I did have the time to waste, I honestly cannot afford it. My mom was in the same position and she applied for the exemption to see her dying father. She had all the proper documentation and notes from his Doctor about the severity of his condition. Even so she was denied. She ended up getting vaccinated against her wishes so she could see him. This is just wrong. And it is high time for a change. Thank you.
