Upon children volunteering in Canada as a way of educating them-being a Mother's Helper? This is a long forgotten concept why not integrate them into society this way!

My Grandfather was a BHC and I have read many of his correspondence when he was a young man and know he did not have an easy life. I feel heartbroken that my Grandfather never got to see his Mother again from 9 years old, when he was brought over.

I am the grandson to two British Home Children. They were sent to Canada at young ages and immediately had to work for the families with whom they resided. There was little follow-up from the sending agencies to check on how they were being treated. In a sense, they had to fend for themselves. Our Canadian governments neglected their duty of care for my grandparents. As well, the role of the Home Children in building Canada has too often been overlooked.

My grandmother and her first husband were British Home Children in Canada. They were innocent children who were treated like slave labor.
