Not everyone can visit beaches with their families on weekdays. If the water has been tested and is safe for swimming, the beach should be open for people to use.

I grew up in Cobourg, my parents lived not far from it and have been coming to the beach for decades. Cobourg needs tourism, businesses need to recoup their losses. Tourism will do that. Beaches are open everywhere and Cobourg Beach is big enough for people to come respect it, enjoy the water and help boost the economy. We are in Stage 2 now and it can be dine safely.

The small-minded few who want to keep our beach closed just don't want to share our best asset with "outsiders". They don't understand that tourism (and agriculture) are Northumberland's most prosperous sectors and need to be nurtured, not shut down for selfish and xenophobic reasons.

I am relieved there are people in Cobourg like Rachael and James. Too many people here are un-educated, small minded and inconsiderate in their zeal to keep the beach closed. The science is irrefutable: outdoor covid spread is essentially non-existent. It is cruel and elitist (and likely racist) to deny all people beach access 7 days a week.

I work all week and can't go to my own beach on the weekend. Open it up.. Zero cases in northumberland.

While I recognize that masses on the Cobourg beach is a problem re. transmission, the town should provide safe passage for those who swim for exercise so they are not in danger of being fined for swimming in Lake Ontario. It would do no harm.

The science clearly shows beaches are safe. People desperately need a safe outdoor experience.

Reverse the decision to close the Cobourg beach on the weekends for the physical and mental well-being of our communities and to support the tourism industry of local businesses in Cobourg.
