For reasons unknown or irrelevant, the Kiski Area High School administration has previously decided to lock bathrooms at the most inopportune times for the students, causing them to have to literally search for an open bathroom during crucial class time. Too often do I or others I’ve spoken to have so much trouble finding an open/unfilled bathroom that they simply give up looking and return to class. I argue that students vaping/vandalizing in the bathrooms isn’t enough of an issue to deny access to an essential aspect of human existence, especially so for any female students that may be having an emergency. It’s well known that students are vaping and vandalizing elsewhere, it doesn’t solve the issue at hand. This problem has gone on for long enough, and it’s time to speak up about it and get this pointless, harmful policy reverted. Every bathroom needs to be opened, all the time.

Edit: I’ve been called to the office this Tuesday, 4/12, and informed that the custodians were locking the bathrooms “entirely too early” than they were supposed to for the past couple weeks. This isn’t true, this issue has been persistent ever since they decided to close the bathrooms periodically. Why not just leave them open and remove the unnecessary work that isn’t helping anything?
