As an owner of a beautiful rescue pitbull, I can confidently say that she is the greatest dog that I have ever owned. She is so intelligent, loving, and intuitive. I am so disappointed that this beautiful breed is not seen for what they truly are. I hope that the Ontario government can see that this legislation is outdated and ridiculous. Legally someone is able to own a lion or a tiger in Ontario. However, the only two species that are illegal to own in Ontario are the pitbull + the killer whale. I don’t understand how the government could truly believe that tigers and lions in captivity are less dangerous than a caring and loving pitbull.

It’s completely ignorant to ban an entire “breed” without real evidence or insight to support an inaccurate stereotype. To say that breed specific legislation doesn’t do any harm just dismisses the families torn apart, dogs in need from finding homes and others being euthanized. In this modern day in age we know that breed specific legislation is nothing but problematic and it shouldn’t be in practice.

BSL is discriminatory and creates fear based on a picture that excludes what responsible pet owners are in reality.

Anti breed legislation is a form of racism but against dogs. Pit bulls and the other dogs being discriminated against are just dogs. They all have teeth, they all jump and bark and any dog can bite under certain circumstances. With all of the dog bite statistics to study it is clear than many other dog breeds also bite people. How can laws continue to persecute happy healthy and well adjusted dogs just because of their breed? It is unethical and wrong. These dogs have been targeted by nefarious people who breed them, abuse them and illegally fight them. The dogs have no say. It is people who are creating aggressive dogs not the dogs themselves. Just like people, any dog can be affected by brutality and abuse. Many of these dogs suffer terrible abuse and if that is not bad enough they get a bad rap from an uneducated public and an overreactive government. A dog should be judged on their personality individually not by breed. This legislation only serves to perpetuate unnecessary negativity and fear and the wasteful destruction of 1000’s of healthy well adjusted dogs every year. It is unjust, cruel and ignorant. It is outdated unproven mindset that should be replaced by facts and studies and education.
Every dog deserves a chance to live and be loved. Ban BSL.

I think this legislation is bs it’s not the dog. Any dog no matter what the breed is can bite and attack. You are taking away dogs from their loving homes and destroying them which is not right. Again if your going to ban a breed you minus well ban all as they all bite. Some of these dogs have been tortured and abused if you were wouldn’t you attack the attacker

It's not a breed. It's the people who train the animals. If properly treated they are fantastic.

It’s not the dog, it’s how they are raised and trained. How many small dogs have bitten people but go unreported - why give certain breeds different treatment?

I’m signing because I don’t believe a dog should be judged on their breed. It’s lunacy.
