Most marinas located in small towns within Ontario are operated as local Mom and Pop shops. Our marina is a small family-run marina located in Keswick, Ontario. We provide boat slips, launch, and rental facilities to local residents as well as vacationers from surrounding areas such as Toronto, Aurora, Brampton, Concord, East Gwillimbury, Markham, Mississauga, Newmarket, Richmond Hill,  Whitchurch-Stouffville and Woodbridge. Like most Marinas, our business should now be opening its doors to our customers as the warmer weather has finally arrived. Instead, the government has closed us all down and in turn, our customers are without access to their boats and the outdoor/water access. 
Marinas also provide important parking spaces for boats for people who do not own waterfront property or cottage. However, boating and fishing are permitted. It’s unfair that the Provincial government of Doug Ford is arbitrarily not allowing these boat owners access to their boat during a period when almost all medical professionals are strongly endorsing participation in outdoor activities. Boating allows a person or family to social distance while having a great and safe time outdoors and on the water. Boating can be considered nothing more than an extension of a car ride which of course is permitted.

Public boat launches are open because they are run by the town. Public boat launches are for use by the residents of the area/town. This is occurring at the same time that private marinas have to turn away out-town-boaters when all they want to do is launch their boats and spend a little time boating and fishing. 

Warmer days and months are coming up. Individuals and families need to have more options than just going for a car ride or walking in the park. Boating and fishing are wonderful outdoor recreational activities that not only provide a great source of physical recreation but also help with our mental state as well. Change can only happen if we voice our opinions together. Please get all your family and friends to help you support this petition for the opening of all marinas to help get everyone boating and fishing and not just the people who have private access to waterways through their waterfront property. 

The Stay at Home Order on April 19, 2021, permits outdoor activities but closes marinas. We want the Provincial government to reopen all marinas as soon as possible, and not to include any marinas should the Stay at Home Order be extended.
