Keep Asian Carp out of Ontario's Great Lakes

Asian carp are invasive and pervasive in the Great Lakes, wreaking havoc on various native aquatic species, the environment, and aquaculture. The invasion of foreign Asian carp was intentionally introduced in the 1970’s to remove algae and plankton in the United States freshwater basins. Unfortunately, governments were ignorant of the irreversible ecological damage that invasive species can cause. Today, Asian carp have spread throughout the Great Lakes, colonizing and exploiting many areas at an overwhelming rate. Conservation biologists call on the Ontario government to employ eDNA analysis, angler/bait fisher/recreational and commercial fisher sightings, and barriers in order to prevent Asian carp proliferation; thus leading to an ecosystem holocaust in our freshwaters.
