There is a strong rationale for ending the practice of seasonal time change.

Time change can cause disruptions to our body clock, otherwise known as the circadian rhythm.

Studies repeatedly indicate that changing the time increases road accidents and workplace injuries. It also negatively affects concentration and can even increase the rate of heart attack and ischaemic stroke in the period directly after the clocks change.

That one hour can make a big difference to crucial bodily functions. The social jet lag can go on for as long as one or two weeks.

Young people are particularly impacted. Their internal clocks may have a harder time adjusting to a new time, and they may become more irritable and energy-deprived when they miss sleep.

Losing 1 hour of afternoon daylight after setting the clocks back to standard time can trigger mental illness, including bipolar disorder, and seasonal affective disorder (SAD), also known as winter depression and increased suicides.

Other countries, states in the US and jurisdictions within Canada are choosing  to end this practice. With your support we can ask our law makers to end time change and bring permanent DST to Ontario too.
