Why this petition matters

Started by Senate Bill

The party-list system of the Philippines is enshrined in the 1987 Philippine Constitution. Its sole purpose is to provide wider range of representation to a greater number of people in the society. Yet through the years, this democratic vehicle has become distorted instrument of policymaking. Instead of serving its constitutional goal in providing effective and representative governance for the greater welfare of our people, it has become a tool for abuse and exploitation.

Thus, there have been party list groups which have successfully entered the halls of the House of Representatives which perpetuate radical and oppressive principles in their platform of governance.

It is in this context that this signature campaign is being launched to elicit the support of the people to eradicate partylist groups in Congress that espouse terrorism and advocate the overthrow of the government and to prevent other groups of such nature to bastardize the partylist system.

This signature campaign fully support for the amendment of RA7941, otherwise known as the Party-list System Act, under propose Senate Bill (SB) 201 filed by Senator Ronald "Bato" M. Dela Rosa.Together let’s make a stand to protect the partylist system from dubious organizations that aim to destroy our democracy. Let us restore the dignity of the system as originally intended by the framers of the 1987 Constitution.
