Why this petition matters

In our current time, online shopping is the most common way of buying products. The fact that you can buy a product from only the palm of your hand and without leaving the comfort of your own home is very convenient. And due to the pandemic, more people are resorting to shopping online. This in turn increases the amount of waste produced from the packaging that our orders or purchases come in. It is common knowledge that plastic is harmful to our environment, but most of us do not care as long as we get our product. Our group aims to bring light to this subject and make a difference by suggesting alternatives to these packaging, like cardboard or bioplastic.

Plastic had always been a huge problem in pollution. It takes hundreds to thousands of years before it decomposes, and it accelerates the depletion of non-renewable resources. Using cardboard in delivering packages is a better alternative. Cardboard is made of renewable resources because it is made from paper, which comes from trees. While plastic is much easier to manufacture, it has more carbon footprint than cardboard. Manufacturing cardboard uses a high percentage of recycled materials and is often heavier than plastic, there are higher carbon dioxide emissions regarding its transport. However, in a landfill, cardboard only takes between 2-12 months to decompose while plastic takes between 400 and 1000 years to decompose. Cardboard also requires less energy to produce and is much easier to recycle and reuse.

With all that being said please sign up and join us in our cause for the betterment of our world. Signing in our petition takes less than five minutes, but it will help us. And, it creates a huge impact to save our nature, our selves, and our future. For more information, you can visit us on our website, Facebook page, or YouTube channel.
