We all want the world to go back to normal, and school is a huge part of everybody’s daily lives. But the United States is FAILING in its fight against Covid-19 and reopening schools is not the answer. Governor Hogan just reversed the decision to keep private schools closed until October, thus continuing the trend of misguided legislation amidst this pandemic. Oneness is an incredible community, but it is a community of small children and families, and these people while being wonderful, caring people, are undoubtedly not following the same quarantine guidelines as other Oneness Families. I understand that Oneness is currently in the process of making the school safe enough to return, but the safest solution is to wait until Covid-19 cases go down. Americans were blaming China for starting this pandemic, but China has slowed its case rate to nearly none. We are a PATHETIC, UNDISCIPLINED society who needs to understand that our normal lives will not go back to being normal until we accept that they need to be put on hold. I’m constantly hearing the Oneness administration saying they “are following government guidelines,” but we are ruled by a governor and president who doesn’t think this virus exists and thinks that windmills cause cancer. We have to listen to common sense. Children are not able to go around all day without taking their masks off, so why not allow them to keep their masks off at home? The Oneness Family Administration is an amazing group full of thoughtful and caring people who have shaped my academic journey in countless ways. This petition is not an attack on these people. It is a message allowing those who fear the guidelines in place are inadequate to have a platform to speak out. I have emailed all of the Montgomery County governors asking them to consider overriding Hogan's irresponsible change of heart. Learning is still possible. The best solution is patience. This is not something to rush. Please sign this petition if you support safety. It’s in our BEST interest to set aside our SELF interest!
