Tiffany Banks started this petition to President and Board Memb DR. SHAVONNA HOLMAN & OPS SCHBOARD and

We in my household remember it clearly... it was around March 2020 my daughter was preparing for her first Junior Prom. Dress ordered and alterations completed; shoes and accessories all purchased and in place. Then COVID hit! Her dreams of 2020 Junior Prom gone but, at least she had 2021 Senior Prom to look forward to...right???

In February 2021 the Omaha Public Schools (OPS) went full on IN-PERSON leaning however, we exercised our choice to keep our daughter as a REMOTE LEARNING student.

Now that right to exercise our choice of remote learning is being used against her! OPS has made the decision she cannot attend her Senior Prom because she is a remote learner.

Regardless of the reasoning why my daughter stayed remote is irrelevant, she is an OPS student and she should be given the same  access and opportunity as the in-person learning students.

COVID has stripped my daughter and the students from so many of their milestones already..why would anyone want to strip this group of remote learning students from something so precious; their Junior and Senior Prom??

I am pleading with OPS and the Omaha Public School Board to reconsider their position and let my daughter and other remote learners to attend their PROM!

For my daughter it will be her first high school prom and her last...she doesn’t have 2022 to look to, she graduates this year!

OMAHA PUBLIC SCHOOLS & SCHOOL BOARD let Tanaya go to PROM!
