Why this petition matters

Marijuana is legal in 19 states including the state in which Richardson tested positive.

“Wait, in 2021 you can be kicked out of the Olympics for testing positive for weed?” Yep that part.

Richardson, 21, won the women’s 100-meter race at the U.S. track and field trials in Oregon last month. She is totally favored to win a medal in Tokyo and yet in all of this she is still human. It’s no understatement that her signature style is very vibrant and captivating second to her exceptional  speed. She has been ridiculed because of her very vibrant spirit that has allowed her to be exceptional in her acceptance of self.

However prehistoric the rules, in testing positive for marijuana it disqualified her results keeping her out of the 100 meter race. However we feel that this should not disqualify an athlete who has already proven to be an Olympian. We are asking you to sign this petition to remove the suspension of this exceptional athlete.  Medicinal use of marijuana has been proven to treat anxiety, depression and pain just to name a few. We should not be asking athletes to suffer in silence because they are under the spot light of the world. This does not make them exempt to the experience of being human. Sign this petition to  allow her to win the gold in Tokyo.
