OLIVER Euthanized Unnecessarily–Ojai Shelter Policy needs to be Changed! A Simple Call would have saved Oliver.

When someone surrenders an animal/dog (in good faith) to the Ojai Humane Society Shelter (a supposedly NO KILL shelter), they don't expect that dog to be then euthanized, especially if they leave their phone number and ask you to call them. In this particular case, If the person who surrendered this dog would have been notified that you were going to send him to the Camarillo shelter to be euthanized - someone from the Ojai Community would have come & fostered this dog until a permanent home could have been found.

This incident was tragic not only for the person that surrendered him, but for the community that would have fostered and supported this particular dog (people were lined up!) until we found him a good home. And we didn't care how old he was, or even if he was ill. We were waiting to pick him up.

Please Notify the person or persons (who surrenders an animal to you); When and If you will be sending that animal to the Camarillo shelter to be euthanized,. We need to avoid the tragic events that happened to Oliver, this sweet, kind, unassuming lovely senior dog.

This incident was tragic not only for the person that surrendered him, but for the community that would have fostered and supported this particular dog (people were lined up!) until we found him a good home. And we didn't care how old he was, or even if he was ill. We were waiting to pick him up and let him live out the rest of his days in peace.
