Tourism in the UK supports 3 million jobs, it's time the Government got behind it.

We propose the Government provide each household in the UK with a £100 voucher to spend on a UK holiday, to be used between February and June 2021.

This would pay for itself and support the total economy, not only that but it would help the areas hardest hit by the economic fallout of the pandemic, whilst providing a much needed boost to the UK's wellbeing, happiness and confidence.

Tourism in the UK generates £106 Billion for the UK economy, and supports over 2,600,000 jobs. It has been decimated by the Pandemic and national lockdowns, but it can be the driver for the UK's economic bounce back, if only the Government would give it a helping hand.

We're proposing a scheme that will more than pay for itself, and save the livelihoods of around 10% of the UK workforce. We are suggesting a scheme that will cost less than the 'eat out to help out' scheme this summer and have an even greater impact.

As it seems more and more likely that there will be at least one safe and effective vaccine by the spring of 2021, we want to help the people of the UK take a well earned break from the stresses of 2020, and get the UK holiday season off to the quickest and best start possible.

According to research by Visit Britain, Brits spend on average £240 per person per holiday in Great Britain. Meaning that if as few as 5% of UK households took advantage of the scheme it would cost the UK treasury approximately £138,000,000, (25% of eat out to help out). Critically it would extend and bring forward the start of the UK holiday season, delivering a minimum spend of £792,000,000 to support the UK tourism sector at this critical period. Generating an extra £158,000,000 in tax revenues for the Government. That is without considering the spend on clothes and other items bought for the holiday.

Supporting the people of the UK to go on holiday in the UK, will mean that they get back in the shops to buy new cloths, it will mean get back on public transport to get to their destination, it will mean enjoying days out and local attractions, as well as supporting local restaurants, cafes, bars and takeaways, it will support the UK's accommodation providers as well as other leisure providers such as sports clubs, water sports providers, cycle hire...

Support this petition and get the UK back on its feet after the devastation caused by Covid-19 in 2020.
