Kaitlyn Wood (Burner) started this petition to Oldham County Schools and

Currently, there are limited services to kids and teens who are hard of hearing or deaf.  There is little awareness within the community, and these kids and teens are struggling to communicate with their peers.  There has been an increasing interest in breaking that barrier, by learning ASL.  I believe the first step to helping our community is by offering an ASL class to high school students as a credited foreign language.  As a teenager with hearing loss, I am often referred to as "stupid" or "weird" or "I cant learn like everyone else."  I am talked about behind my back because they think I can't hear them.  I want to help break that way of thinking and show the world that deaf and hard of hearing people are just like the rest.  Starting in my own backyard.
