Between now and the start of online school, I have seen many students complain and post about how many assignments are being assigned daily. We all understand that work is necessary, but many teachers are pushing the limits. When in-person school was in session, I would have about 2-3 assignments each night, averaging to about 1 hour of homework per day. Now with online school, I have an assignment for each class each night. This usually takes me hours to complete, and I have heard about great amounts of other students who are in the same situation as me. But this isn't just about work, it's about grades too. Students who would normally earn A's and B's are receiving D's and F's. This could simply be because of laziness, but we have also recognized that teachers would never normally assign this much work if school were in person. With in person school, we would have the same amount of class time that we have during virtual school - just because we have school at home, doesn't mean we are doing to spend more of our "out of school" time to work on extra assignments. The amount of pressure students are under from students and parents is already too much for people our age, but in addition to school, students have extracurriculars and jobs that need time as well, because students could be dependent on them for scholarships. Students should NOT have to be deciding between school and sleep.
