Taxation on periods is inhuman. Periods are not a choice. Menstrual items are not a luxury. The average person who menstruates spends nearly seven years of their life on their period, regardless of their financial situation and ability to purchase enough tampons, pads, menstrual cups or anything medicinal to help ease symptoms. In addition to these items not being accessible to everyone who menstruates, sales tax and the ineligible use of gov assistance are heavy yet changeable burdens. It is time all menstrual items are deemed medically necessary.  

We have been holding menstrual hygiene drives and collecting money to help locals meet this basic need. We have raised over 25,000 items- that is hundreds of dollars in taxes. We are now eligible to buy these items tax free but the community is not and we want to change that.
