President Johnson recently sent out an email saying that vaccinated students on campus must wear masks. This is not based in science. The Delta variant is transmissible but not as deadly for vaccinated individuals. With over 70% of the campus population being fully vaccinated, there is no need for masks. Ohio State should not be the ones to issue blanket mandates for all students at this point in the pandemic. There are smaller portions of the campus population that need specific requirements in order to keep them safe.

There is also no goal. If OSU would like to completely eradicate the virus then we will be in a constant state of fear and the administration will never take the mandate away. The mandate was not based in science or statistics. No studies were cited indicating what changed from the beginning of July to now indicating that masks would help keep the campus population safe.

Sign this petition if you believe that OSU students, especially incoming freshman, should be able to live and enjoy their lives and not live in a state of unnecessary fear.
