Tanner Moore started this petition to Ohio's General Assembly and

People of all ages all over the country play many different types of sports, whether that be football, basketball, soccer and many more. Some of those people have even dedicated their entire lives to their favorite sport and would do anything to keep playing. Sports are a huge part of society and there is an athlete around every corner, but a lot of these athletes have been injured far too many times and have just been ill-informed as to the ways of either treating these injuries or even preventing them from happening in the first place.

Sports injuries affect can effect everyone and nobody is safe from them, unless they know the possible ways to help protect themselves from getting these injuries. There are ways to prevent yourself and others from getting injured. One simple way would be to encourage cross training and a variety of different sports, this will keep your body from going through the same motions over and over again which could actually cause problems in the long run. MAKE SURE THAT YOU WARM-UP, warming up is a very big part of a workout because it gets the blood flowing to the right areas in order to keep there from being any issues. Eat healthy and drink lots of water, some people eat junk food all the time and drink lots of soda and wonder why they are always tired and are cramping constantly. One way to prevent yourself from getting injured in a contact sport would be to make sure that you do lots of research on the best types of equipment, but even though that may cost a little more it will be worth it because you won't get injured as easily.

Say you do all of these things and you still end up getting injured (which is possible) there are some ways to help treat these either minor or major injuries. For minor injuries you may need to continue drinking water and make sure you ice those bumps and bruises. For major injuries you need to make sure that you get to a doctor as soon as possible so you can get the best diagnoses possible.

If you were to take one thing from this petition it would be that everyone just needs to do a little more research to help keep themselves in their sports that they love so much. Education needs to be the number one priority. Thank you!
