Heather Rakowski started this petition to Ohio Governor and

March 13,2020 I was furloughed due to the virus. I have been with my company as a waitress for 7 years and in all of my years working I have never had to file for unemployment. I (we in the restaurant industry) were told we would receive unemployment due to being furloughed because of the virus. Myself and many others have been denied because we do not meet the income guidelines to be approved for unemployment. After many days of calling Ohio unemployment I finally got through and was told the income guidelines were being charged and not to worry that I would receive unemployment. That was almost 2 months ago. I have filed an appeal, filed weekly and called unemployment every day and have gotten nowhere. Something has got to be done. How am I/we supposed to survive on no income? Employees of Ohio were told they would receive help and not everyone has. When are things going to be taken seriously and resolved? You can spend every hour of your day calling unemployment and get nowhere but a recording saying they have a high call volume, to try calling again. I understand there are many people on unemployment at these times, but we were told we would receive it and it’s almost 2 months later and nothing. Shouldn’t the income guidelines been changed from the very beginning? There has got to be a change from this government.
