Mckenna Hassel started this petition to Ohio Governor and

I am proposing an executive order to temporarily waive the in-car testing requirements to obtain a drivers license. The safety of road testers and applicants is threatened being in a car together during this time of COVID-19 crisis. This has already been successfully implemented by the Governor of Georgia in his executive order intended to revive a healthy Georgia in response to COVID-19.  With the certification of a parent/guardian that all driving requirements have been met and their endorsement of the intent of in car testing can be met.

On a practical note there will likely be a backlog of testing requiring a significant increase in testing availability once Ohio BMV workers are able to safely return to work. Yet the ability to be socially distanced while carrying out the in-car drivers license tests will still be an issue not easily resolved in the short-term.

This quarantine has impacted my mental and physical health in more ways than one. Before our shelter in place requirements, I was involved in many extra- curricular activities in my school and was not home very often. This was abruptly changed right before I was able to take my drivers test.  I was looking forward to  being able to drive myself to not only these activities but also to a job I was seeking to save money up for college.   This all has been put on hold during this period and I am anxious to start to return to some sort of normalcy in my life.

I feel that many others have been impacted in the same way and that the overall benefit to the buckeye state community, its economy, and the Ohio BMV workers will be positive as a result of this action.  Thank you in advance for your consideration. I will continue doing everything I can at home to support my local community and our Ohio during this period. I look forward to hearing your response!
