Stop Ofo leaving Norwich

The bike-sharing company Ofo have announced they are to leave Norwich to focus on the capital.
Ofo is a Chinese company with 200 million registered users. As Norwich hire numbers had “started high and remained strong” and recently in April Ofo’s head of operations sang Norwich’s praises as a city for bike-sharing.
The company made cycling a safe, convenient and affordable option to get around the pedestrianised city centre, especially for the large student populations. UEA is a world famous institution of environmental research and Norwich is a green city, why take a step back away from the green infrastructure Ofo brings to the city? Together the councils, Universities, students’ unions and people of Norwich should prevent Ofo from backing away from the bike-share scheme that has to potential to bring about lasting benefits for all people living in Norwich.
The 1000 dockless bikes are being removed so Ofo can focus on the London market, which already is home to the Santander bike-share scheme? Surely leaving the small city of Norwich cannot make much of a financial dent in the accounts of a company worth $3 billion. This cannot be allowed to slip under the radar and should be protested for the benefit of the people of Norwich, congestion and the environment.
