I heard a rumor that 'Appalachia' was a proposed name for the state of West Virginia and honestly it makes sense. West Virginia is the only state where 100% of its territory resides in the Appalachian Mountains. Maps of the United States show that the state of West Virginia is not even west of the state of Virginia as Virginia itself is farther west than West Virginia so the current name of the state makes no logical sense. That is why I propose West Virginia be renamed to the proposed name Appalachia.
