Moro Culture Advocates Mindanao started this petition to Office of the Regional Governor ARMM and

Culture is one of the things that is unique in every community. It can be observed in a tangible and intangible manner. Tangible culture is through architectural design, textile, weaponry, livelihood materials, musical instruments and many more while intangible aspect expresses tradition, beliefs, literature and cultural knowledge.

Recently, the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) celebrated its 29th Founding  Anniversary. One of the highlights of the said event is the ARMM Mock Cultural Villages that portrays the different cultural architectural structure and knowledge that exists in the province of Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao.  An estimate of thousands of people (locals) and tourists (foreigners) visited the villages. However, the anniversary already ended last December 19, 2018 and the villages were closed after that date. With the coming of the year 2019,  it has been decided that the villages will be demolished within the month of January. Hence, we petition to retain the structure of the mock ARMM Villages in ARMM compound.

Considering the archipelagic area of the Philippines, this cultural villages is helpful to inject respect and cultural understanding about Moro culture in Mindanao (Maguindanaon, Tausug, Yakan, Maranao, Sama, Teduray and other ethnolinguistic groups). The village promotes educational learning and interactive experience to students. Further, it promotes tourism and economic growth.

In relation to the future maintenance of the structure, a number of small-medium enterprises (SME) can be tap to operate the maintenance of these cultural villages. These villages can provide a venue for the SMEs to exhibit and market their cultural products. Not only it will promote self-sustenance to Moro entrepreneurs but also contribute to regional economic growth thru tax payments. At the same time, this will also be a tourist attraction for the Moro region.
