Make psychiatric services accountable through transparency in reporting health incidents.

I work as a mental health peer support worker and am acutely aware of the lack of transparency in public mental health services around reportable incidents. Lack of transparency means that upholding the rights of people with lived experience of mental illness is near impossible. If a person dies from suicide, experiences abuse from a mental health worker, or receives below Standard of Care treatment there is no public awareness of this incident. Consequently Standards of Care upheld by State wide Mental Health Services are mere lip service. Without there being consequences for inadequate mental health service provision, lawlessness remains unchecked. Power over vulnerable people corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
