Why this petition matters

Started by Izza Live

The Office of Liquor and Gaming QLD bent the rules for restaurants and venues to allow takeaway alcohol sales of up to 2.25lt to help small business through the Covid19 period. This has been extended to the 1st of April.

We would like to see this become a permanent thing in QLD as it makes no sense for us NOT to be able to do this.

I am small business owner who's licensed restaurant does a lot of takeaway food and sells craft beer. Being able to compliment the responsible service of takeaway alcohol combined with the food we sell as a takeaway has given us an increase in overall sales during this tough period. As a small family operated business this helps compliment what we have created in our business. Has there been an increase of deaths or alcohol related incidents as a result of allowing us to be able to do this, we think not. A person can walk into a bottle shop and purchase as much alcohol as they like to takeaway without food, so why shouldn't we be able to do the same WITH the food we sell, albeit to a limited volume?

I urge you to sign this petition and share it to change the rules for good to give us small business battlers a break and some extra revenue. Why should the major corporations have the monopoly? We, by no means, are out to compete with bottle shops. We just want a fair go for an issue that gives us a little extra revenue.

Cheers!
