A Public Enquiry into the BBC's Election Coverage

A Public Enquiry into the BBC's Election Coverage
Why this petition matters

There is a growing sense that the BBC is not being impartial in the coverage of both Brexit and the 2019 Election. Ofcom does not have the power to investigate the edictorial decisions of the BBC. I was told by a senior Ofcom person that minutes of editorial meetings are not kept for analysis of the decision making. This person, previously a journalist said that would be interfering with press freedom. As a licence fee payer I want to know how editorial decisions are arrived at. There have been multiple times that the editorial decisions have appeared to favour the Conservative Party. There have been two "mistakes" that showed Boris Johnson in a better light. One involved video editing that could not have been done by mistake. There is still a dominance of Oxbridge and public school people in the senior positions of the BBC compared to the make up of the population.
I want an independent Public Enquiry into the BBC, their editorial processes and diversity in management positions. I want the enquiry to be open, be abe to call witnesses who will be put on oath. I want the closed shop of the BBC to be opened to reflect the population.
