•A place in Gandhalpada village which comes under Joda district of Keonjhar has been selected for establishing a new iron ore mines. In this project 241.558 hector land will be excavated.
•An area of 181.461 hectar land , comprising of 9lacs Sal trees will be affected by this project.
•Among the 9 Greenfield mining sector selected by the government, this area with 314.37 million tons of iron ore is ppositioned 1st in the list.
•The locals complain that,this will result in loss of natural habitat and also destroy the shelter of elephants and wild animals which is an indirect threat to them.
•With addition to this , they said the trucks and other heavy vehicles which will be used in the mines , will be responsible for air pollution and also bring damage to roadways.
