October 31 and November 1 Off Of School

As an upper grade student in the HSE school district, I have a tendency to stay up late. But I can make myself sleep. However, when I’m missing out on something, it will haunt me afterwards. Halloween is a great holiday. You get to spend time with friends and go out to get candy. If this is on a school night though, students don’t get to be out the whole time. If you were trick or treating with your friends, you’d need to stop even sooner to make sure they can get home. This takes all the fun out of Halloween if you can’t even be out late at night. This is why I believe students should get Halloween and November 1st off of school. We get more time to rest up for the long night and a day to sleep in. And parents don’t need to break the hearts of their younger kids when they say that they have to go home after only an hour of trick or treating. Teachers then get a day off to plan their lessons, too.
