No to 5-story mixed-use building at 1500 Oliver Rd Fairfield

A permit has been submitted to the Fairfield, CA planning commission to demolish the empty Orchard Supply Hardware store at 1500 Oliver Rd. and build a five story multi-use apartment/retail complex. We live in the residential, low-density Woodcreek housing area across the street from the back of the OSH store. Our homes are single-family, one and two-story homes that were built over 30 years ago. Many of us have lived here since the homes were built, and others are new families with young children or seniors who intend to retire here.

We have many reasons for not wanting it across the street from our homes, including increased traffic and noise, invasion of privacy as people who live in the higher levels look down into our backyards and homes, the possible destruction of the redwood trees that line our street and along the side where KinderCare is, and many more. We do support  commercial development of this site but not to the extent as proposed. We suggest that it should be built somewhere in the downtown area of Fairfield, which does fit with the city's general plan.

By signing this petition you are supporting our cause to stop the city planning commission from approving the development of this site into a mixed-use, five-story apartment/retail complex.
