OCPS Recycles!

OCPS Recycles!

The Issue

This impacts everyone! Recycling is more about the ethical concerns than about making money. It's about helping the environment & reducing global warming. We do it in our homes & work, why not in our schools.

UCF has a great program called UCF Recycles! They are in their 5th year of their program. Orange County Public Schools has not even started (other than paper recycling & aluminum cans in some schools).

The State of Florida has mandated a 75% recycling rate by 2020. We are already behind in starting, but Orange County needs to step up to the plate. Plastics do not break down for hundreds of years & aluminum takes a labor intense process to create. There are bottle banks for glass recycling in certain states & monies we are missing out on. OCPS cannot put this off any longer. Sign the petition and show OCPS that you care & this is important to you.

Kathryn McBridePetition StarterI am Web Design student at Winter Park Tech Avalon. I also own a green cleaning business called Green Clean of Avalon Inc. I clean houses and go to school. In the process of starting my business I got introduced to a company called Shaklee. I had never heard of them before. Supposedly, they had been around for 50 years. I was brought over a green cleaning basket as soon as I started the business. I have loved the Eco-friendly products (the chemicals as well as the reduction of bottles). I am a Shaklee Distributor now & like to endorse the Get Clean products. I would like to get Orange County Public Schools to adopt a Recycling Program in the schools as well as get them to start using Eco-friendly Green cleaning supplies. If they choose Shaklee that would be great, if not Shaklee, then another green company! :) Thanks for reading. :)
