Increasing State Housing in Aotearoa New Zealand

One of the biggest and most significant issues that New Zealanders face today is poverty and affordable housing. As two students attending Wellington Girls College, We believe these two closely related issues can be solved through an increase in State housing. State accommodation is a public housing system that provides low-income earners with affordable rental homes, The Liberal Government was the first party to build state homes however the scheme did not thrive until Labour came to power in 1935. We hope to influence the Government's policies on state housing; to build and restore more state homes and focus their budget towards the quality of their accommodation.

State housing provides struggling New Zealand families with a home and a place in their community, this system allows tenants to focus their income towards education for their children and basic living necessities.

By signing this petition you are supporting the idea that an increase in state housing will benefit the lower income consumer population who are in desperate need of your help.

Thank you.
