Changing Snow Days In Rural Areas

Our grade 10 civics class at Osgoode Township High School has started a project where we are trying to change the way our snow days are called because we believe that the process is unfair for students who live in rural areas. With this petition we would like to achieve a way of constructing a process where all schools, especially those in rural areas, can be judged fairly for snow days.

In the Ottawa area, students are affected annually by harsh weather conditions that often force the school board to cancel buses. However, schools on the outskirts of the city of Ottawa that are still considered as part of the OCDSB aren’t given special consideration when it comes to cancellation. This negligence often forces students and faculty to commute to school in unsafe conditions. Signing this petition could lead to improving the lives of rural students and faculty in the OCDSB by ensuring our safety in all conditions.
