Jade Jordan started this petition to Ocado

The illegal trade of European eels is Europe’s largest wildlife crime and our own equivalent to the ivory trade. Annually 350 million critically endangered European eels are illegally trafficked from Europe to China where they are farmed for meat and then exported back across the world to be sold. The products they are sold as are often mislabelled as different, non-protected eel species in order to avoid detection. Ocado currently sell eel products supplied from China (such as 'Yutaka Frozen Eel Unagi'). Unfortunately there is no way (besides DNA testing of individual products) to ensure that eel meat products originating from China are not illegally trafficked European eels that have been mislabelled. Therefore, this is not a sustainably sourced product. Please sign the petition to let Ocado know that as 'the UK's most environmentally-friendly supermarket' they should show that they care about the decline of our critically endangered species. Ocado should replace unsustainably sourced eel products with more sustainable options.

(Ocado have yet to respond to several emails on this subject)
