Objection to Community Centre on Corner of Alice St and Rocky Point Road, Sans Souci

Objection to Community Centre on Corner of Alice St and Rocky Point Road, Sans Souci
Exodus Community Services wish to convert the current "Telstra Building" into a Community Centre to provide:
· Counselling
· Job readiness
· Homeless Support
· Victim Support for domestic violence
· Mediation
· Seniors Care
· Community focused activities
The building is located in a family orientated area of Sans Souci. It is directly next door to an Infants Christian School, Church and has a bus stop - used by many children travelling to and from school daily.
Residents of Alice Street are concerned about:
1. What the 'community centre' will truly be used for
2. Residents are concerned about homeless people and drug addicted people coming to our area
3. There are many many young children in Alice St and the surrounding area who could be affected by the patrons of the community centre location
4. Opening hours are 9am - 9pm - which means that drug addicted or homeless people could be roaming our streets after dark.
5. They have not considered parking as a problem. They have suggested that the Telstra building has 5-10 cars per day in Alice St, whereas the most I have seen in the 13 years I have lived here is 2 Telstra cars at one time.
6. Will this community centre reduce the value of our properties?
Without your support and the support of the Sans Souci community, we could be 'welcoming' people of less fortunate background into our Street and Sans Souci surrounds.
We have until FRIDAY, 6th May to submit our objection. Please join me in supporting our community to ensure that we welcome the right people into Sans Souci and keep our area safe.
