Withdraw support from Woodlawn organizations supporting bigotry.

As a signer of this petition, I support the following statement. I reject Woodlawn community representation by any group that includes Pastor Byron Brazier of the Apostolic Church of God on E. 63rd Street in Chicago's Woodlawn community until Pastor Brazier renounces and apologizes for his decision to cast-out a longtime member from his church community because of her same-sex marriage. The Woodlawn, Washington Park and South Shore Community, and Economic Development Organization (WWPSS) is one such group and I call on Mayor Emanuel and the Obama Foundation to withdraw their representatives from participation in the WWPSS, and to revoke the legitimacy of that group for any matters related to representation of the Woodlawn Community. This includes withdrawing participation of any city officials (e.g. Deputy Mayor Andrea Zopp) from involvement with the WWPSS. In addition, the Obama Foundation must be called to account for actively allowing its own top leadership to participate with Pastor Brazier on the board of the recently formed WWPSS. In supporting the leadership and legitimacy of a pastor who has aggressively and vindictively marginalized and "disfellowshipped" a longtime member of his own church because she exercised her constitutionally protected rights to full citizenship as a gay woman, the Obama Foundation dishonors the legacy of Barack and Michelle Obama. Obama Foundation Vice President of Civic Engagement Michael A. Strautmanis must immediately withdraw his own participation from the WWPSS and the Obama Foundation must withdraw its support for any group that excludes the full participation of any individual based on their exercise of constitutionally protected human rights.
